On 13 October my dog Pasha turned 17. You might have seen her in my photos: the small white dog with the brown and black head, usually somewhere near my pillow.
What I haven’t told you yet is that she got pancreatitis first.
About half a year before my first attack in May 2023, Pasha ended up at the vet on a drip. Then again, and again. Five stays in total, 5 to 6 days each time. I already had trouble with my own stomach back then and had no idea what it was.
She’s doing well now. Low-fat dog food, and for a long time no treats at all. These days she gets something small now and then.
We’re very connected, she and I. When I’m not doing well, she usually isn’t either. I watch her poop the way I watch my own, and when it goes orange, something’s off. Same for me. Sometimes it feels like she took a piece of this on herself.

Every day we walk in the forest, about 45 minutes, no phone, no music.
If your dog or cat went through pancreatitis too, I’d like to hear about it. Tell us in the free PancreasZen community.
